Jennifer Palmer has been in prison for many years for a violent crime. She is seeking friendship and support, and she is eager to tell her story.
So, my life did not turn the way I thought it would. Now I find myself in need of friendship and support. After many years in prison, I have the opportunity to apply to the board quarterly. So far, I’ve received only denials. I feel that support from people out in the world will sway the board’s opinion in my favor.
I’m not claiming innocence. I acknowledge that I earned a prison sentence. However, the life sentence I was given was unjustified. If you give me a chance to tell you my story, I’m sure you’ll agree.
I have long carried the labels of felon and convict. The labels I long to embrace are daughter, sister, partner, and most importantly a free survivor of the prison system.
Will anyone out there offer me kindness, encouragement, support, friendship, or just a conversation? If you don’t enjoy writing, email me at GettingOut.com. Search for my name (or #36394) in the state of Nevada, at FMWCC (Florence McClure Womens Correctional Center). The rusted chains of prison moons are shattered by the sun. You could bring sunlight into my world with just a few words.
